Barnard Castle Pub named ‘Best Local’ by Dehenna Davison MP, after winning local competition.
The Cricketers Arms in Barnard Castle has been awarded the title of ‘Best Local’ after winning Bishop Auckland MP, Dehenna Davison’s, Best Pub competition.
Closely following The Cricketers Arms, the Mitre in Bishop Auckland and The Royal George pub in Shildon came in as runners up.
The competition, which ran throughout August and September, was set up by the Bishop Auckland MP to help promote and support the local hospitality industry.
Dehenna Davison MP said:
“With over 50 pubs nominated, 10 in the final and almost 2,000 votes it has been incredibly exciting seeing so many out supporting their local. A huge congratulations to the Cricketers Arms for winning my ‘Best Local’ competition.
“The past 18 months have been undeniably difficult for the hospitality industry, and this competition was a way I felt I could continue to show my support for our fantastic breweries across the constituency of Bishop Auckland.
“It was great to swing by today and present Tom and the team at the Cricketers Arms their award.”
Dehenna Davison surprised winning landlord Tom this weekend, popping into the pub to present the team with their certificate.
Landlord of the Cricketers Arms Tom said:
“We are absolutely blown away by everyone who has voted for us thank you so much, we have a great team of staff who are an absolute credit to the place thank you.”
