I’m writing to introduce myself as the new Chairman of the Bishop Auckland Conservative Association. I was honoured to assume the role at the Association’s AGM on the 6th March 2020, taking over from Cllr Ted Henderson following his three successful years as Chairman.
I am also pleased to be working alongside George Brade who has been elected to Deputy Chairman Political & Campaigning, Cllr Richard Child who continues in his role as Deputy Chairman Membership & Finance and also James Hutton who continues as Treasurer of the Association. Willie Salvin has been elected as President of the Association taking over the Presidential reins from Major Trotter. Both Major Trotter and Cllr Ted Henderson become Patrons of the Association.
Now that we are in the enviable position of having our first ever Conservative MP in the Constituency, we have many hopes and ambitions for the Association and we intend to build on the success and momentum that Dehenna’s election to Parliament has given us.
However, right now is not the time to be discussing political planning for the Association. We are all facing an unprecedented challenge with the Coronavirus and all our efforts must be directed at looking after families, friends, neighbours and ourselves and to help mitigate the impact on those in most need and distress. Dehenna’s office is co-ordinating an approach to volunteering to help and details can be found on her website www.dehennadavison.com . My fellow Officers and I are also available to provide help and guidance where needed.
I hope, that once we have beaten this pandemic and life returns to some sort of normality, we will be able to resume our activities with gusto and enthusiasm.
With best wishes to you all,
Philip Leech Chairman
