Dehenna Davison MP has visited the Solan Connor Fawcett charity in Spennymoor today [03/08/2021] to meet with founder Mark Solan.
Kicking off her recess activities, Dehenna Davison member of Parliament for Bishop Auckland, visited the Solan Conor Fawcett Charity shop and HQ in Spennymoor, to learn more about the charity and the support they offer so many families across County Durham and Darlington.
The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust, founded in 2015, was launched to help those effected by cancer. Founder Mark Solan was inspired to help others after sadly losing his mam at the age pf 22 and has since helped thousands of people who have had their lives impacted by cancer.
After a short browse around the high street shop, Dehenna was shown around the charity’s newly built community hub. The Solan Connor Fawcett charity are aiming to use the facilities as a place of rest bite for families and warriors living with cancer and are set to use the facilities to support parents and partners who may struggle with cooking or washing if their loved one is taken ill.
Dehenna Davison MP said:
“It was great to be in Spennymoor today and hear from Mark and the team about the fantastic work they are doing locally to support families impacted with Cancer.
“Not only do they have a fantastic shop, which I had a quick browse around and couldn’t help but pick up a few things, they have a brilliant new hub out back for families to come and de-stress or learn new skills. I couldn’t be prouder of they work they are doing, and I look forward to keeping in touch with them and helping with any fundraising, whether that’s through shopping or events, I can!”
