Safer streets. Support for businesses. Better education. This is part of my long-term plan for our area. And it’s a plan I’ve already started to deliver.
That’s because, having been born, raised, educated, worked, and served as a local councillor in County Durham, I have learnt how to get things done.
Working with Robert Potts, the Durham Police & Crime Commissioner Candidate, I'm campaigning to stop the closure of our local police stations and custody suites. We need to serve the communities of County Durham by improving police response times, and the best way to do that is to base police officers locally.
As a former Business Development Director for a County Durham based company, I know the struggles our small and medium enterprises face on a daily basis. In 2021, I launched my own business, which could not compete the challenges presented during the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to work with our local business owners to secure their futures by working on long term strategies to support sustainable economic growth and job creation in our community.
In 2021, I made it my mission to improve Whitworth Park Academy in Spennymoor from Inadequate to Good. Working with the school's leadership team and academy trust, we delivered the improvements and secured a Good rating within just two years. I have already started meeting with schools in Willington, New Brancepeth and across the constituency, with the aim of supporting our teachers to make the improvements needed to give our kids the best start in life.
I hope to meet lots of you in the coming weeks and months, and I look forward to delivering the change that we desperately need.
